August: New Month, New Me!

Today is the start of a new month, which also means it’s an opportunity to do something new, or establish a new goal.

I’m at an interesting place in my career, trying to grow, establish myself in my organization and create connections to reach all of my goals. Once upon a time I was a complacent, misguided young woman who never could see beyond brunch or the next social gathering and paid no mind to my career. I had a steady job, it was flexible allowing me to wander in and out of responsibility as I wanted. Then one day I woke up and it was like a cold shock to my system. I was in my mid-twenties, didn’t have a salaried job and still didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Since that day, I have found myself making up for lost time. I am constantly brainstorming ways to climb the mountain of success, even having barriers come across my path. This is possibly why I now excel and my job is centered around being organized. Doing project management for an office comes very naturally to me, by the time the sponsors start talking about what do we do next, I’ve already written down the first 10 milestones, with dates and people assigned to complete the tasks.

This is why having a planner brings me so much joy. I am able to merge all aspects of my life into one place-school, work and anything outside of that. I missed the boat on Lisa Frank in elementary school, and am making up for lost time now with rainbow color pens and bright planners. Today is the day my new planner starts, and I am so excited to write in what I have coming up in the next 18 months! I still use my calendar on my phone as a back up and quick reference, but its very satisfying to hand-write it all-plus it reinforces it in my mind helping me remember.

My goals for this month will include:

  1. Stick to my half marathon training program after not at all in July
  2. Work toward a promotion
  3. Be better about blogging regularly
  4. Take time to stay in touch with family/friends
  5. Save that $$$$$ for a house with Greg

About the Planner

I have never been married to a particular brand, or type but I do love this Lilly Pulitzer planner I got while on vacation in Annapolis. Like i said it has stickers inside, lilly designed pages, and each day has a good amount of space to write down to-do’s, and more! SO CUTE! I also made the purchase of rainbow ink-joy pens to write in it with, a color for every mood and then some in-between.

Here is a link to the planner I am using, and the pens if you are interested. Enjoy!!
